Requirements

  • New York City: FDNY Fire Code Ch. 9 (FDNY Fire Code Ch. 9):

    • a monthly detailed inspection report is completed by a Certificate of Fitness holder
    • an inspection card is posted near the main control valve

    FDNY S-12 material (FDNY S-12 study material):

    • ITM is supervised by an S-12 Certificate of Fitness holder
    • records are kept 3 years
    • at least 6 spare heads are kept on site

NFPA 25 inspection frequencies

  • Quarterly: wet-system gauges, waterflow alarms, fire department connections.
  • Annually: sprinklers, piping, hangers; main drain, control valve and backflow tests; dry-pipe trip test.
  • Every 3 years: full-flow dry-pipe trip test.
  • Every 5 years: gauges, internal piping assessment.
